The TC aims to encourage sport activities among children and teenagers in the South region of the State of Rio Grande do Sul – Brazil and offer a career choice to new generations.

It is time to value the approaching reality to place the city of Pelotas on the route of national football by attracting youths from other regions of the country to improve their talents in our city.

Emerson Ferreira da Rosa

Émerson Ferreira da Rosa – known as Émerson – was born in Pelotas, on April 4, 1976. He is a former Brazilian football player who acted as a midfielder.

He began playing at Grêmio where he was one of the highlights of the team and won the 1995 Copa Libertadores, the 1996 South American Recopa, the 1996 Brazilian Championship, among other titles.

After a great period at Grêmio, in 1997, Emerson moved to Germany to play at Bayer Leverkusen. He played at the German team up to the year of 2000, then moving to Italy.

After Romario was dismissed from the Brazilian Squad in the 1998 World Cup, Emerson was called up to substitute him. He took Brazilian Squad’s jersey number 11, despite being a midfielder and not a forward as Romario.

In 2000, Émerson signed with AS Roma, where, in 2001, he won the Scudetto and the Italian Super Cup. His performance called the attention of Juventus and Real Madrid. Roma wanted to sell him to Real Madrid, but Emerson chose to sign with Juventus. He was sold for approximately 15 million Euros.

Even though he did not win titles at Juventus, he excelled. He was the player Fabio Capello could always count on. When coach Capello moved to Spain, to train Real Madrid, he took Émerson with him. However, due to the decline of the relationship between them and the poor performance of the player at Real Madrid, in January 2007, Emerson declared his desire to return to Juventus. By May, his performance, along with his team’s results, had gradually improved. On May 12, 2007, Emerson declared his intention to stay at Real Madrid.

However, still during the year of 2007, on his radio program "El Larguero", Ramón Calderón, then president of Real Madrid, said Émerson would leave Real Madrid during summer, along with the Italian player Antonio Cassano, for technical reasons.

On August 21, 2007, AC Milan officially confirmed the Brazilian player would be transferred. He made his official debut in Milan's 3-1 victory over Sevilla playing for the European Super Cup on August 31.

After playing for nearly two years at the club of Milan, Émerson terminated his contract with AC Milan as a result of various injuries and due to the fact that coach Carlo Ancelotti did not use him.

On July 26, 2009, the board of Santos Futebol Clube announced on the team’s official twitter (@sfc_oficial) Emerson was hired to join the team for the 2009 Brazilian Championship, under the leadership of newly hired coach Vanderlei Luxemburgo.

On October 16, 2009, he terminated his contract with Santos, as he would undergo a surgery and would not be able to play for the team anymore.
